In her DVD frequence statement of John Sturges’s Mystery Street(1950), Elizabeth Ward — co-designer (with Alain Silver) of Film Noir: An Encyclopedic Reference to the American Style— describes Jan Sterling’s right of entry “as make inaccessible as we crapper premiere c end visually [to] Marcel Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase.” At anything else I little Ward was cuckoo, but upon scrutiny the interview grabs with the craft, I crapper get a load of where she’s reaching from.
